H-1B Visa Information

Eligibility

The H-1B visa classification is used at UC Davis to employ foreign nationals in temporary research and teaching positions.  UC Davis will pursue the H-1B visa classification for full-time (100%) teaching and/or research appointments for the duration of a period of proposed employment for which secure funding is available.  Positions that are not teaching or research must be approved by UC Davis Human Resources.

Department Responsibility

The H-1B petition is a University application that requires UC Davis certification to the Department of Labor and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  Therefore, it is the responsibility of the employing department rather than the individual scholar to prepare this petition and supporting materials.  These application materials should not be completed by the individual worker on his or her own behalf, except perhaps the forms completed on behalf of dependent family members.
