Course Overview

EDU 065: Foundations for University Success for International Students is a three part series offered by the School of Education and designed specifically to identify and address the tools international undergraduate students will need to succeed at UC Davis. Students can register for 1, 2, or all three classes in the series.

  • Fall: Introduction to the University System. Learn about the resources available to support first year student academic success and transition to a tier one research university. 
  • Winter: Introduction to Research at a Tier 1 University. Develop important research skills, such as critical thinking, writing, and presentation. Focus will be on basic research, group projects, and presentations.
  • Spring: Internships, Graduate School and Careers. Explore academic and career connections and opportunities including internships, volunteer opportunities, graduate schools and careers. Create a resume, application, and cover letter; practice interviews

Course details:

  • Small class size (20 students per section) with a focus on student interaction and activities
  • Individual attention in office hours; introduction to campus resources
  • 2 units of P/NP course credit
  • No pre-requisites
  • Previously known as EDU 098

EDU198 - Introduction to Research at a Tier 1 University 

This course is part two of a series offered by the School of Education designed to give you the tools you need to succeed at UC Davis! You will learn about American culture with members of the campus community. Plus, you can practice important student skills, including how to:

  • manage your time on the quarter system
  • develop critical thinking and study skills
  • understand your rights and responsibilities as a student

*Important: Students must have the CRN number ready to register for this course on Schedule Builder. When registering, be sure to enter "2" for unit value. This course does not appear in the Course Search Tool because it has been reserved especially for 1st Year Freshmen & Transfer international students only. This course does not apply to the minor in Education.
