Course Overview

EDU 065: Foundations for University Success for International Students is a three part series offered by the School of Education and designed specifically to identify and address the tools international undergraduate students will need to succeed at UC Davis. Students can register for 1, 2, or all three classes in the series.

  • Fall: Introduction to the University System. Introduction to resources supporting first year students’ academic success at UC Davis and transition to a Tier-1 Research University.
  • Winter: Introduction to Research at a Tier 1 University. Introduction to research skills, such as developing critical thinking, study skills, writing skills, and presentation skills. Focus will be on basic research, group projects, and presentations.
  • Spring: Internships, Graduate School and Careers. Introduction to academic and career connections and opportunities. Focus will be on internships, volunteer opportunities, graduate schools and careers.

Introduction to the University System

This course is part two of a series offered by the School of Education designed to give you the tools you need to succeed at UC Davis! You will learn about American culture with members of the campus community. Plus, you can practice important student skills, including how to:

  • manage your time on the quarter system
  • develop critical thinking and study skills
  • understand and adjust to life in America
  • understand your rights and responsibilities as a student
  • participate in classes, use office hours
  • find resources and answers for all kinds of questions

*Important: Students must have the CRN number ready to register for this course on Schedule Builder. When registering, be sure to enter "2" for unit value. This course does not appear in the Course Search Tool because it has been reserved especially for 1st Year Freshmen & Transfer international students only. This course does not apply to the minor in Education.
