Drop-In Appointments

Drop-in advising does not require an appointment. These meetings are reserved for quick issues that take no more than 10 minutes. The Drop-In Advisor will help students with issues approved for drop-in on a first come, first serve basis.  

When is Drop-In Available?

  • Monday afternoons from 1:00 p.m.3:45 p.m.
  • Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m.3:45 p.m.

What issues can be discussed during Drop-In?

  • Adding a dependent on my I-20/DS-2019
  • Changing my degree objective
  • Changing my major or adding a minor
  • Driver’s license
  • EAP enrollment verification form
  • Electronic I-94 problems
  • I-515 deferred inspection
  • ITIN numbers
  • Normal departure after graduation
  • On-campus employment
  • F-1 OPT STEM extension
  • Passport renewal/Lost passport
  • Referrals to campus units (e.g. housing, financial aid, etc.)
  • Social Security numbers
  • Transferring to another school
  • Transferring to UC Davis from another school
  • Travel related questions
  • Visa renewal

Appointments with an International Student Advisor

Students can schedule an appointment with an International Student Advisor Monday through Thursday. You can make an appointment either at the SISS front desk or by calling 530-752-0864 ext. 0.  Appointments can be made with the first available advisor, or you can request a specific advisor.

  • Academic difficulty
  • Academic probation
  • Changing immigration status
  • Dismissal
  • Exception to full-time enrollment
  • F-1 Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
  • F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT) —recorded attendance of an in-person or online OPT workshop is required to make an appointment.
  • J-1 Academic Training (AT)
  • J-1 2-Year home residency requirement (212-e)
  • PELP (Planned Educational Leave Program)
  • Program extension (extending the end date on I-20/DS2019)
  • Student Judicial Affairs (SJA)
