How to apply for Curricular Practical Training

After reviewing the Curricular Practical Training workshop video you can apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) in a few easy steps. All CPT authorization is done by Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS), so the process is relatively quick once you have completed the required steps.

How to Request CPT

Part I: Student obtains and submits a job offer letter in the iGlobal CPT request

SISS Advisor assures the offer letter meets all requirements

Part II: Student submits information about major advisor

Academic Coordinator / Advisor reviews the letter and makes a recommendation

Student enrolls in internship or research unit(s) required during CPT authorization period. Please note: Summer Session CPT authorization will require enrollment in internship or research unit(s) for each Summer Session and Summer Session tuition and fees will apply

SISS Advisor issues the CPT I-20

The letter must be on company letterhead and include:

Employer's name and address
Job title and description of job duties
Number of hours per week
Employment start and end dates
Indication of paid or unpaid employment
Human Resources (HR) or supervisor signature
