Kiara Zecha, a fourth-year Japanese major and education minor, has always had the goal of being bilingual. Through her hard work and commitment to her journey, Kiara has amassed multiple experiences and outlets to improve her Japanese language comprehension. She hopes to use these skills in her future career goal of teaching language abroad.
International graduate students created a disproportionate number of new business startups in the United States in the past decade. They also increased entrepreneurialism among their U.S.-born peers, according to new research from the University of California, Davis.
Mary Alurwar is a UC Davis Global Affairs’ international scholar advisor within Services for International Students and Scholars. She serves as the J-1 lead advisor and backup for H1-Bs. In October, Alurwar traveled to Germany to learn the latest trends in Germany’s higher education system. She received a 2024 Fulbright International Education Administrator (IEA) Award, which awarded her a 2-week program, travel, and accommodation grant.
We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Daniel Padron, a scholar intake advisor with Global Affairs’ Services for International Students and Scholars, who passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2024, after 20 years of service at UC Davis.
