F-1 On-Campus Employment
- Confirm Your Eligibility
- - As a student in F-1 status, you may work on-campus up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during school vacation periods such as winter, spring, or summer breaks.
-- You may only work 20 hours per week during summer if summer is your first or last term of enrollment at UC Davis.
-- During the academic terms, 75% appointments are not allowed.
- You will need to fill out paperwork to be employed by the university. You must complete a Form I-9 via the Tracker Electronic I-9 system (access provided by hiring unit) prior to working on-campus.
- Once you have confirmed your employment, you will need to get a Social Security Number if you do not already have one. More information can be found on our Social Security page.
- If you are working on campus:
-- Graduate Students: You can work on-campus until the Program End Date on your I-20 if you are in a contract position.
-- Undergraduate Students: You can work on-campus until the last day of the term (quarter end date or summer session end date). - How To Get Started

All J-1 employment must be authorized before starting employment. Authorization can be requested in Global.
