Undergraduate Student Programs

Global Ambassador Mentorship Program

The Global Ambassador Mentorship Program is designed to help incoming first-year and incoming transfer international undergraduate students successfully adjust to life at UC Davis. Through peer mentorship and participation in social events, new undergraduate international students make connections with new friends and find a welcoming global community at UC Davis.

  • First-year and new transfer international undergraduate students can request to be matched with a peer mentor during their first quarter. Applications to get mentorship as a mentee are open in the summer through fall quarter.
  • Current international undergraduate students can become mentors! Mentors deepen intercultural leadership skills, develop programming, and join a diverse cohort of peer mentors. Applications open at the beginning of the winter quarter.

Global Ambassador Mentorship Program events are open to all international undergraduate students. Keep up to date on events by subscribing to the SISS Newsletter and checking the SISS events calendar. Learn more about the Global Ambassador Mentorship Program and how to become a mentor or mentee.

UC Davis Pal Program

The Pal Program pairs up UC Davis undergraduate students for intercultural conversation experiences. Participants can use these sessions to increase their intercultural awareness, practice a target language, and develop friendships.

Global Engagement Opportunity Living-Learning Community

The Global Engagement Opportunity is a one-year residential living-learning community that provides first-year students an opportunity to engage in cross-cultural exchange and collaboratively learn about global issues in an equitable and sustainable way. Through friendships with students from across the world and participation in programming, your Global Engagement Opportunity experience will help you build global awareness, relationships, and networks through globally focused events and programs. This community is open to all incoming first-year students—whether domestic, transnational, or international—who are interested in participating in programming with a global focus. Domestic, transnational, and international students are encouraged to participate and can choose to room together.

New first-year students can join the Global Engagement Opportunity Living-Learning Community within their Student Housing Application through MyAdmissions.

Graduate Student Programs

Certificate Series

This series encourages graduate students and postdocs to consider how their research and career aspirations position them to respond to global challenges. Participants will be provided insights from mid- and late-career professionals on how to improve networking and leadership skills for success in intercultural work environments, whether in the public, private, or academic sectors. The current available series explores concepts of DEI to prepare participants to contribute to more inclusive workplaces and communicate DEI competency to future employers.

Language and Culture Coaching

Multilingual graduate students can practice their oral communication skills in English in the Language and Culture Coaching Program. Students can sign up for one-on-one and/or small group sessions to focus on topics such as presentation skills, English for teaching, pronunciation, vocabulary and more.

Global Learning Hub

The Global Learning Hub offers a variety of programming that is accessible to graduate and professional students on campus, abroad and virtually. Through the Global Learning Hub, each and every UC Davis student can find global learning opportunities available on campus, in the region, virtually, and internationally.
