Information and Updates
December and Winter Break SISS Closures
SISS will close at noon on December 6 for a staff retreat and reopen on December 7. SISS will also close for winter break from December 23, 2022, through January 2, 2023. We will reopen on January 3, 2023. Please plan ahead to avoid delays.
SISS closes early, and services end at 2 p.m. on the business day before a long weekend or holiday.
Travel Signature Required for Winter Travel
If you plan to travel outside the U.S. this winter break, please review the travel requirements for both students and scholars. In addition to the other requirements noted on these pages, F-1 students will need a valid travel signature on their I-20 form, and J-1 students and scholars will require a valid travel signature on their DS-2019 form.
If you need a new travel signature, you must make your request in iGlobal.
Consult your SISS advisors with any questions about international travel.

Moonlight Breakfast for Students
Take a study break and refuel with breakfast foods when you join Chancellor Gary S. May and LeShelle May at the Moonlight Breakfast.

Scholar Coffee Break
We invite international scholars to connect at the monthly SISS Scholar Coffee Break. Whether you are new to campus or have been here for several months, international scholars are invited to join SISS in this welcoming and virtual space.

Welcome Dinner for Newly Arrived Visiting Scholars
Community Friends of Scholars is a local organization of volunteers, sponsored by International Students, Inc. (ISI), with staff and volunteers from area churches. They hold monthly Welcome Dinners for newly arrived visiting scholars. Scholars can sign up for other activities at the dinners, like Zoom cooking classes and farm tours.

Save the date and join the UC Davis Global Tea Initiative for its 8th Annual Global Tea Initiative Colloquium. This year's theme is Tea and Value.

Call for Proposals: 2023 Graduate Public Scholars
The UC Davis Humanities Institute invites applications from doctoral and MFA students in the arts, humanities and humanistic social sciences to join the 2023 cohort of Public Scholars. The program introduces graduate students to the intellectual and practical aspects of identifying, addressing and collaborating with members of the public through their scholarship, with funding available to develop a community-based research project.

Student Advocate Office: Conduct Case Advising
The Student Advocate Office offers free, confidential academic and behavioral casework services, resources and guidance to any student navigating suspected misconduct by the University's conduct office, the Office of Student Support and Judicial Affairs.
Mail Art Project Submissions Now Open
This year's Imagining America's (IA) Mail Art Project theme is Rituals of Repair and Renewal. As we peer through the portal of the global pandemic, UC Davis students, faculty and staff are invited to reflect on the following question as they engage in their creative work for this mail art project: What rituals (embodied, mundane, communal, reflective, energizing) have been part of your personal or communal experiences of repair and renewal?

Internship Opportunity with Global Affairs
The Global Affairs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Internship provides an opportunity for UC Davis undergraduate students to actively contribute to campus engagement on the SDGs, gaining knowledge of organizational strategy, campus and external coordination and communications and analytical skills to support this global agenda.
