Orientation for Graduate and Professional Students

man standing at a chalkboard
In response to state and local guidelines, UC Davis is making modifications to special events in order to ensure that they are held in a safe and accessible format in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because orientation will be virtual, you will be required to view a series of short videos in iGlobal. More details about how to access these videos will be sent to your UC Davis email address.

Welcome new Aggies, and congratulations on your admission! Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) is delighted that you have chosen UC Davis for your graduate program. All international graduate students are required to attend BOTH the (1) mandatory International Graduate Student Orientation (IGSO), hosted by Services for International Students and Scholars, and the (2) Graduate Studies Graduate Student Orientation. It is your responsibility to sign up for BOTH orientations.

International Graduate Student Orientation (IGSO)

International Graduate Student Orientation (IGSO) hosted by SISS will be virtual due to COVID-19. Information on how to complete your orientation requirement will be sent to your UC Davis email address. International students studying at UC Davis with a F-1 or J-1 visa are required to attend the IGSO session, which explains important immigration regulations for your studies and employment.

Students must indicate whether they will be attending IGSO when they request their I-20 or DS-2019 through iGlobal. There is no separate registration form or email. Students can access the correct I-20/DS-2019 request form starting on April 7, 2020.

Basics Orientation

Due to COVID-19, there will be no in-person sessions held for the fall. If you are able to come to UC Davis for fall quarter, you can view short videos on transportation, safety, and other topics at your convenience. These videos are optional, but are highly recommended as they will be helpful in transitioning into your new life in Davis. Guest speakers in the videos will also be available for a live Q&A via Zoom on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

Graduate Student Orientation hosted by Graduate Studies

The general Graduate Student Orientation hosted by Graduate Studies is Monday, September 21, 2020. These sessions cover the necessary information and requirements for graduate students at UC Davis.
