The Basics Orientation offers sessions covering topics to help your adjustment to life in Davis. The sessions cover transportation, how to open a bank account, enrolling your children in school, and more.
Due to COVID-19, Welcome Event activities are changing for fall quarter 2020. There will not be in-person events, but we are actively working on developing virtual activities for international students, scholars, and their families. Check back here for more information about these upcoming events.
When first arriving at UC Davis, J-1 scholars must check-in with SISS by completing our iGlobal check-in eForm. Scholars should refer to instructions provided to you with your SISS welcome packet. Timely check-in is required for SEVIS record validation and new J scholar orientation sign up. If you have questions, please email SISSscholar@ucdavis.edu.
Transfer for orientation for international students will occur on campus between August 5 – 13, 2019. Please review the UC Davis Orientation webpage for more details.
There will also be a mandatory online component for international students which can be accessed through your individual iGlobal account starting August 1, 2019. International transfer students will receive an email with a link to the online module.
Graduate School of Management students: SISS International Student Orientation does not apply to you. The Graduate School of Management will host SISS Orientation at the Graduate School of Management for international students.
Welcome new Aggies! Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) is delighted that you have chosen UC Davis as your study abroad destination. As a J-1 student, you are part of the U.S. Exchange Visitor Program which promotes mutual understanding between people of the United States and other countries through cultural exchange. As part of your exchange, you are required to attend an SISS orientation session.
