Dear members of the UC Davis international community,

On behalf of Global Affairs at UC Davis, I am writing to echo recent statements from UC Davis Chancellor May and UC Board of Regents Chair Pérez and President Napolitano on the tragic killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Stephon Clark and countless other Black Americans. We stand with the UC System and UC Davis in affirming our solidarity with Black students, colleagues, and communities and in speaking out against racism, discrimination, and marginalization.

We also recognize that this is an overwhelming and challenging time. The UC Davis Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has compiled a set of resources for racial trauma to support our community. As always, students are encouraged to use the services of Student Health and Counseling Services, and faculty, scholars, and staff are encouraged to use the services of the Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP).

We stand with the UC Davis community and with people in countries around the world marching in a global display of solidarity. I urge all of us to reaffirm our shared commitment to our UC Davis Principles of Community as we acknowledge and address racism, speak up for justice and equality, and do more, individually and collectively, to foster a caring, inclusive and equitable environment, both locally and globally.
