Masking Indoors "Strongly Recommended"
In a recent campus update, UC Davis reported that Yolo County public health officials still "strongly recommend" masking indoors. If you have questions about the latest recommendations, requirements, or information, visit the Campus Ready website.
Stay Alert to Prevent Scams
The United States Customs and Border Protection have warned about a scam that impersonates a Customs and Border Protection agent. The caller says a package was intercepted containing money and drugs addressed to the victim in the scam. Read more about this phone scam.
UC Davis Police also warned students about a scam involving emails from someone claiming to be a professor and offering employment in a recent update to campus. Read more about this incident.
It is important to stay alert to avoid being scammed. Scams are easy to fall for, and you might not know a phone call, email or interaction is fraudulent until it is too late.
Think twice before engaging in or continuing a conversation with someone you do not know—whether over the phone or online. Any request that does any of the following may be a scam:
- Threatens to suspend your Social Security number or visa (even if they have part or all of your information, such as part of your Social Security number)
- Warns or threatens arrest or legal action
- Demands or requests immediate payment
- Requires payment by gift card, prepaid debit card, internet currency or by mailing cash
- Pressures you for your personal information
- Requests secrecy
- Threatens to seize your bank account
- Promises to increase your Social Security benefit
- Tries to gain your trust by providing fake "documentation," false "evidence," or claiming to be a government official

Travel Recommendations for Campus Community
Due to the persistent risk posed by COVID and other communicable diseases, travelers should continue to take all available precautions. All travelers are highly encouraged to make a travel medicine appointment before they leave. These appointments provide important information on local risks and vaccine requirements beyond the COVID-19 requirements. UC Davis employees are encouraged to make an appointment with the UC Davis Travel Medicine Clinic. UC Davis students are encouraged to make an appointment with UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services.

Additionally, the U.S. State Department issued a Level 4 — Do Not Travel Warning for Ukraine due to the current conflict. As a result, and out of concern for the well-being and safety of the UC community, the University of California Office of the President is directing all members of the UC community to avoid all travel to Ukraine at this time. Travel to neighboring countries should be carefully evaluated.

UC Global Health Day
Faculty and students from UC Davis and other UC campuses will come together to focus on global health issues involving humans, animals and their shared environments. UC Global Health Institute (UCGHI) and the UC Santa Cruz Institute for Social Transformation are co-hosting this year’s event focusing on Centering Social Justice in Community Health.

Chancellor's Leadership and Development Series with Dr. Christine Lovely
The third seminar in the 2021-22 Chancellor's Leadership & Development Seminar features Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer, Christine Lovely. This is an opportunity for all students to learn about the journey and goals of campus leadership. Dr. Lovely will discuss her career trajectory and share her experience in campus leadership. 2022 Research Expo Features Post-Pandemic Human Migration Panel
The annual UC Davis Research Expo is a one-day event that showcases the latest research-related insight, resources, opportunities and tools to help you advance your research. Attendees are welcome to attend the full event or portions.
A panel of experts organized by the Global Migration Center will discuss research on how immigration mobility has changed with COVID, including accelerated processes in the labor market, in the economy and in farm labor, and how the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border evolved during the pandemic, from the perspective of migrants.

Graduate Anti-Racism Symposium
This two-day event is open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to highlight best practices in anti-racist approaches to graduate education. The first day is an all-virtual morning session of roundtable talks and presentations, and the second day is an in-person lunchtime workshop.

UC Global Health Institute 2022-23 Student Ambassador Program
The University of California Global Health Institute (UCGHI) is seeking applicants from across all 10 UC campuses, UC Hastings and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Charles R. Drew University for the 2022-23 Student Ambassador Program. UCGHI is pleased to offer this program for the first time over the course of an academic year, from September 2022–June 2023. This leadership opportunity is open to all students (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, medical, nursing, law, etc.) who are dedicated to personal and professional growth by serving and representing their respective campus.

UC Davis Campus Climate Survey on Sexual Violence
UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services and Center for Advocacy, Resources and Education launched a campus-wide survey to gather crucial information regarding the lived experiences of sexual violence of the UC Davis student body. This information will help departments and support systems learn how to better support UC Davis students and foster a campus culture that is intolerant of violence.

Global Education for All Fellows Program
Students are invited to apply to become a Global Education for All Fellow for the 2022-23 term. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the campus-wide initiative of Global Education for All. Fellows can advise on different aspects of Global Education for All or work on team projects that help further integrate global learning on campus. Volunteer, unpaid, one-academic year commitment.

The ASUCD Pantry located in the Memorial Union offers free groceries and basic necessities to all UC Davis students, staff and faculty regardless of financial need. Order ahead online for nonperishables/basic necessities or come by anytime for a walk-in visit to get fresh produce. Everyone is welcome!

Two International Students Selected as 2022 UC Davis Grad Slam Finalists
UC Davis Graduate Studies recently announced ten finalists who faced off with live presentations at UC Davis Grad Slam earlier this month. This year, two of the ten UC Davis Grad Slam finalists were international students, Lo-Wei Lin, a Ph.D. candidate in pharmacology and toxicology who presented “Look out! The smoky orange sky is harmful to your skin,” and Jaihan Zou, a Ph.D. candidate in biological systems engineering who presented “Novel Cooling Media: Cooler Than Ice.”
